Contest Guidelines

The following Contest Guidelines (hereafter “Contest Guidelines”) apply to all entries in the The Death March Music Video Creation Contest (“Contest”) hosted by Square Enix Co., Ltd. (“Square Enix”).

Who May Enter
This Contest is open to any interested person who agrees to accept all terms of the Contest Guidelines and who resides in Japan.
Please note that entry in this Contest constitutes your acceptance of all terms of the Contest Guidelines.
Entry Format

From this site, download The Death March music tracks and official art designated by Square Enix (“Designated Tracks/Art”), and use these materials to create your own original The Death March music video.

  • ”Hybrid -Ignis Fatuus-” (from The World Ends with You)
  • ”Revelation” (from The World Ends with You -Live Remix-)
  • ”Price of Freedom -I Want To See You Smile-” (from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII)

The download contains the following files:

Please adhere to the following rules when creating your entry.

  • ・ Your video entry must use at least one of the three designated music tracks, as well as the character art and logo, provided in the download.
    Please note that you may use the character art as is, or you may use it as a base and create your own original artwork from it. Some examples might be redrawing the artwork as a flip book, adding the character art into the background of your video, or employing animation.
    Please also note that you must not use any music other than the designated tracks provided.
  • ・ If you wish, you may use two or all three of the designated music tracks together as a medley.
  • ・ No audio processing, other than transitioning the music tracks from one to another, is allowed.
  • ・ The file size of your video must be no greater than 1 GB.
How to Enter
  • 1. After reading and understanding the terms of these Contest Guidelines, click on the “Accept Contest Guidelines and Enter” button below.
  • 2. When you click the button, a blank email with the “To” field already filled out for you will pop up. Send this blank email to the email address provided. The URL of a web page from which you can upload your video entry will be returned to you via the email account you sent the blank email from.。
  • 3. Access the upload page via the URL sent to you and check the “I warrant this file does not infringe or interfere with any third party copyright or other rights.” box.

  • 4. Check the “Advanced Features” box, enter a password of your own choosing, and upload your video entry.
    Once uploaded, please be sure not to overwrite the file with a new upload.

  • 5. Send an email containing the following information to the email address provided to you in Step 2 above.

    • ・ Your address (Include only the city/town/village name and prefecture name. You do not need to include banchi [house/lot number] information.)
    • ・ Your name (and/or nickname if you prefer)
    • ・ The file name of your video entry
    • ・ The password you chose in Step 4 above
  • Following Steps 1 through 5 above will complete the entry process.
Regarding Inappropriate Submissions

Entries deemed by Square Enix to fall under any of the categories below will not be considered. In the event that the winning entry is deemed to fall under any of these categories after the winner has been selected, prize award(s) will be revoked.

  • [1]Any entry that infringes any third party intellectual property right, including copyright, or other rights.
  • [2]Any entry that contains the name of any specific existing company, organization or product, or that Square Enix deems defamatory to any entity or any third party.
  • [3]Any entry that reveals personal information or that violates the privacy of a third party.
  • [4]Any entry deemed contrary to public order or morality.
  • [5]Any entry that contains musical compositions or tracks of the entrant’s own creation.
Warnings
  • ・ Upon submission of your entry, you assign to Square Enix all global copyrights (including all rights mentioned in Articles 21, 26, 27 or 28 of the Copyright Law of Japan, as well as any rights bestowed by future legal amendments).
  • ・ Please note that if no entry is deemed suitable to be the winning video, a winner will not be chosen.
  • ・ our entry may be shared with Square Enix-related websites or other media (such as television, magazines or the Internet). In such cases, Square Enix reserves the right to edit the entry.
  • ・ Square Enix retains all rights to the Designated Tracks/Art.
  • ・ Square Enix prohibits the use without express permission of all originals for which Square Enix holds the rights, including all Square Enix-managed musical compositions and the designated tracks.
  • ・ You are granted permission to use the Designated Tracks/Art only for the purpose of entry into this Contest. Use of these materials for any other purpose is prohibited.
  • ・ You are prohibited from personally releasing your entry to the public.
  • ・ If your entry contains some defect or is deemed to be contrary to these Contest Guidelines, your entry will be invalidated.
  • ・ Please note that questions about this Contest or the winner selection process will not be answered.
